If you’re looking for reassurance, encouragement, or simply a reminder that someone understands, you can request a Pride Letter. Each one is written anonymously by a member of the LGBTQ+ community who has chosen to share their lived experience in support of others. Your letter will arrive directly in your inbox in a discreet email, with no visible branding or identifying subject line, so you can read it privately and safely.
When Words Matter Most
Pride Letters is a community-led space where LGBTQ+ people can read and share anonymous letters of support.
Every letter is written by someone who understands. Someone who has faced their own challenges and chosen to turn their experience into encouragement for others.
If you’re here looking for reassurance, you’re not alone.
If you’re here to share your story, your words could mean more than you realise.
Together, we remind each other that belonging is real, support is possible, and no one has to face their journey alone.
If you feel ready to share your story, you can submit an anonymous Pride Letter to offer strength and encouragement to someone else in the community. Your experience may be exactly what another person needs to hear. Every letter is shared anonymously and delivered via a discreet email format, ensuring privacy and respect for both the writer and the recipient.
Frequently asked questions and how it works
Who is Pride Letters for?
Pride Letters is for anyone within the LGBTQ+ community who may need reassurance, encouragement, or a reminder that they are not alone. It is also for those who feel ready to share their lived experience in support of someone else this could be lived through themselves or through supporting family or friends.
What will I receive if I request a letter?
If you request a Pride Letter, you will receive a thoughtful, anonymous message via e-mail written by a member of the community. It will be sent directly to your inbox in a discreet email, allowing you to read it privately and in your own time. The message is screened by a member of the team and there will be nothing to identity either side.
What should I write if I want to send a letter?
There is no required format. You can share a personal experience, words of encouragement, or reflections that helped you through a difficult time. This might not be your experience but that you have shared when supporting a family member or friend. We ask that all submissions remain respectful, supportive, and mindful of the wellbeing of others. Please try to not use names or anything that could identify the person.
Is it anonymous?
Yes. We do not publish names or identifying details. All letters are handled with care to ensure privacy and respect for both the sender and the recipient.
Does it cost anything?
No. Pride Letters is completely free to use. Requesting and submitting letters will always be free of charge.
Are you a crisis or mental health service?
No. Pride Letters is a peer-support initiative and does not replace professional mental health, medical, or crisis services. If you are in immediate danger, please call 999. If you need urgent emotional support, you can contact Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7) or visit your nearest A&E.
Where can I find additional LGBTQ+ support in the UK?
If you would like to speak to someone directly, you can contact Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline on 0300 330 0630 (10am–10pm) or via online chat and email at switchboard.lgbt. They provide confidential support for anyone across the LGBTQ+ community.
